Meet Mikaela McAuley
Born in New York, NY and moved to Haymarket, VA when I was 5 where I began playing golf while also participating in other sports such as softball, track, equestrian, and snow skiing. At the age of 12 I decided to focus solely on golf. My Sophomore year in high school I decided to leave my home in Haymarket, VA to attend IJGA and Montverde Academy in FL to improve my golf game as I work towards my dream of playing college golf. At IJGA I am able to spend more time working on my golf game while also excelling academically at Montverde Academy. I am now a Junior in high school with a GPA of 4.1.
At IJGA, I am able to train 5 days a week after school for at least 4-5 hours a day given a modified school schedule, with the weekends focused on tournaments or additional training. My training schedule is focused on improving on the range, short game, putting drills, fitness, on course, mental, strategy, etc.
Over the years, golf has become a true passion, driving me to improve and become the best player and athlete I can be. I've challenged myself with difficult tournaments, which has given me broad experience and pushed me to perform even better. I've also played local and regional tournaments which keep me grounded. My goal is to play college golf and I'm currently looking for a University with a solid academic program and a competitive golf team.
